How do you practice your languages? A question I get asked SO often that I decided to take you on a mini-adventure and document exactly how I do it with commentary!
Here are the main objections learners have with this approach:
Fear of talking to strangers in public
Not knowing where to find native speakers of target language
Not knowing what to study to prepare a conversation
Blanking out in the middle of conversations
Running out of topics to talk about
Let me tell you - preparation and mindset are key.
In this video I try to answer some of those questions by taking you on a trip to a random supermarket where I look for a native speaker of Ukrainian after learning the language for 2 months. This video was filmed last year 2020, 2 months after I started learning in August 2020.
I love this video because it is definitely not one of my best - and that IS OKAY because this allows me to reflect with you and share some tips on how to make your language experience an awesome one.
If you live in a multicultural city, what are you waiting for? There are tons of opportunities to practice languages and perhaps make new friends with the community of your target language! How do you not know what is there for you if you haven't tried!
If you are feeling a lack of motivation in studying your languages - talking to someone in my target language ALWAYS gets me pumped up and ready to study again. Sometimes you have to experience "embarrassment" or "I Could have done better" moment in order for you to focus on what you need to do to improve.

Hello everyone, my name is Nic, and I am a Canadian polyglot that believes learning a language can be fun and accessible to all! My mission on this channel Polyglot Paradise, is to spread my knowledge and passion for learning languages.
My inspiration for this was Moses McCormick (RIP 🌹), also known by the username laoshu505000. The term used for what I am doing in this video is "levelling-up" or simply "level-up". We polyglots push ourselves to go out of our comfort zone in order to get reach new levels in the languages we learn.
