RANT en FRANÇAIS (Réponse à la dernière vidéo sur Comme Ci Comme Ça)
My previous video on "Comme Ci Comme Ça" has sparked QUITE the debate in the comments on my Instagram and Tiktok a few days ago, so I made this quick video as a response to explain the context of that super short video.
Most of the responses were angry Francophones (most from France), but I believe they misunderstood the context of the actual video and did not catch the main point of my message. Hopefully this follow-up video clears things up!
As a person who loves learning languages, I honestly have to say that language education in schools need to change drastically as these old dusty language textbooks, outdated vocabulary, and "traditional" methods are not working to effectively teach students the proper language skills to work, function, and live in an authentic environment of their target language.
Just because something is found in a language textbook, does not necessarily mean it is the most natural and authentic thing to say in an informal conversation in the target language.
Students must understand this while Languages Teachers must do their part and teach language as it is spoken authentically to help equip students for success in the language(s) that they're learning.
For Students out there: Please strive to learn French outside the classroom and immerse yourself in authentic language media through movies, Youtube videos, etc. Try your best to sound natural in French so you can impress and have a greater connection with Native French Speakers across the world!
