Win7 7b,AHCI,SATA,IDE,Move win 7, sysprep
This is the main video in my issues troubleshooting Windows 7 7b error. This video is also about moving your Windows 7 hard disk to another machine. I have an 299X board, this new board BIOS no longer has SATA/IDE setting that they have had for many years. My research showed that if you change SATA/IDE setting from SATA to AHCI, Windows 7 will not boot! What is funny is that, you can install and run windows with eather the BIIOS setting for SATA or AHCI. The issue is when you change it or like in my case, the BIOS manufacturer decides for some reason to stop supporting it. It took me week of pouring over forums for this. What little help I got was mostly bad help and rude comments. I have found the solution. This is the main vedeo, the others just support various aspects of doing the move. I tried to delete the devices, that did not work but I remember a Win XP problem that required you to delete the hard disk controller to avoid BSOD when the moving the installation. In Win98 you deleted one key in the Reg and it just redetected all the hardware..no such luck here. The process is before you tear down your computer, always make a backup and after that run SYSPREP.exe from Windows/system32. This will pack up all of your hardware and it will redeploy on the new hardware. It will redetect everything and most important, you will have all of your documents, pictures and programs without having to re-install Windows.
