The BITTER War between Sony and Microsoft over Call of Duty and Activision
The Microsoft-Activision deal was always going to be a controversial acquisition for a key reason - Call of Duty. Sony and Microsoft have been going at it in a tug of war over one of the biggest third party publishers and one of the biggest gaming IPs of all time, with arguments on both sides fighting over the popularity of Call of Duty, the risk of CoD being a possible Xbox exclusive, a back and forth row with regulators looking to investigate Microsoft's impact on gaming with the Activision deal and it has also opened up a Pandora's box of industry consolidation. Why has this deal elicited one of the most fierce and public displays of confrontation over two of gaming's big platform holders?
