Jill Matthews, the former owner of 605 Steinbeck Avenue, received a Historic Preservation Month Award from the Historic District Commission on May 24, 2023, for overseeing the restoration of the Crown Farmhouse.
The 1894 Gothic Revival style house at the England-Crown farmstead was vacant and gutted for many years before Jill Matthews purchased the property it in 2021. She and her design team embarked on a stunning transformation of the home that adapted it to modern living, including the construction of a compatible detached garage.
