Assassin's Creed (AC for short; roughly translated as "Assassin's Creed") is an action-adventure video game series from the French publisher Ubisoft. It has existed since the release of the game of the same name in 2007 and includes 13 main games and numerous spin-offs. The most recent installment, Assassin's Creed Mirage, was released in October 2023. Most installments in the series were developed by the Canadian studio Ubisoft Montreal.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is an action-adventure game with role-playing elements, developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It is the fourteenth title in the main Assassin's Creed series and the successor to Assassin's Creed Mirage, released in 2023. Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on November 15, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, Luna, Epic Games, macOS, and Ubisoft Connect.
As is typical for the series, Shadows is set in a historical setting, in this case feudal Japan of the 16th century (Sengoku period), when the country was a patchwork of territories controlled by individual princes and families.
