Personal Minimums make the No-Go decision easy
I was really excited to fly my wife and daughter out to Camarillo for brunch because it would be my wife's first time flying with me as a private pilot. We tried for weeks and this was the first day where it finally seemed like a possibility.
The weather was rough and I was on the fence about flying for over an hour. It wasn't until the winds went over my personal minimums that suddenly the decision was easy. Would we have made it if we decided to go? Probably. I felt good about my decision to cancel though.
When I cancelled due to the wind, I was disappointed, but honestly even a little relieved now that the decision has become easy. By establishing minimums, it suddenly makes the go/no-go decision really easy for some flights. The decision is already made.
