Can I make LAVA Mac and Cheese?!
✨Recipe:
Ingredients:
• 8 oz elbow macaroni
• 2 tbsp butter
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 2 tsp garlic powder
• 2 tbsp flour
• 1 can evaporated milk
• 8 oz Velveeta cheese
• 12 oz mozzarella cheese
• 2 packet Buldak ramen seasoning
• 4 eggs (for coating)
• 2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup breadcrumbs
• 1 cup Flaming Hot Cheetos, crushed
• Black food coloring (optional)
• Oil, for frying
Directions:
1. Cook the elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then whisk in the flour to make a roux.
3. Stir in the Buldak ramen seasoning for that signature lava heat.
4. Slowly pour in the evaporated milk while whisking until smooth.
5. Add the Velveeta and mozzarella, stirring until melted and creamy.
6. Pour the mac and cheese into a square dish, smooth the top, and refrigerate until firm.
7. Once chilled, cut or scoop the mac and cheese into balls, then freeze for 30 minutes.
8. Prepare your coatings: whisk eggs in one bowl, place flour in another, and combine breadcrumbs with crushed Flaming Hot Cheetos (and black food dye if you want a “charred lava rock” look. Blend it to spread the black food coloring around).
9. Dip each mac and cheese ball into flour, then egg wash, then the breadcrumb mixture. For an extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps once more.
10. Freeze for another 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.
11. Heat oil to 350–375°F and fry the balls for 2–3 minutes, or until crisp and dark golden.
12. Transfer to a wire rack, let cool for 2 minutes, then pull apart to reveal that molten, cheesy lava core. 🌶️🧀
