AI for clinicians - What is artificial intelligence?
Hi everyone! It's been a while! 😅 After becoming a resident in internal medicine and a fellow in critical care (and clinical pharmacology), I have become a full fledged intensivist 🥳 What you may not know is that I am also trained as a biomedical engineer, specialized in AI. I think it's inevitable that AI will come to healthcare, and that we as clinicians will be using it in our daily work 🤓 For that reason, we need to know a bit more about AI: what it is, what it can do, and also: what it cannot do. We need to know about the opportunities, but also about the challenges and pitfalls, such as bias. So that we also know when NOT to use it. This is because we as clinicians remain responsible to provide the best care for our patients! 💪
