In this video, I'd like you to listen to a sentence and tell me which word is wrong.
This is a very common mistake my students make, but we fix it quickly and they get much better.
Here it is: “I forgot my pen! Can you borrow me yours, please?”
Again, “I forgot my pen! Can you borrow me yours, please?”
Which word is wrong?
If you said “borrow,” good job! Now, what is the correct word?
Of course, it should be, “lend!”
“I forgot my pen! Can you LEND me yours, please?”
Again, “I forgot my pen! Can you LEND me yours, please?”
Borrowing is when you receive it, lending is when you give it.
You could also say, “Could I borrow your pen, please?”
Again, “Could I borrow your pen, please?”
