Verbs in Hebrew.
A guide to learning verbs in Hebrew.
The material is taken from the textbook "Live, Work and Rejoice" in Hebrew. I. Elihai.
Listen, read the sentence, watch the translation, repeat after the speaker. We learn Hebrew in phrases. Hebrew by ear.
From the preface of the author of the course:
One of the difficulties of Hebrew is the conjugation of the verb. There are no special problems with pronunciation, and the student begins to build simple phrases quite quickly. Difficulties arise when it is necessary to use the verb in different tenses. Gradually, you begin to feel the impossibility of free speech without the ability to use the verb. In the ulpan, they teach verb forms, but until you hear the changes that occur with the verb, you will not be able to identify them.
In life, you encounter all the forms of the verb only by chance - sometimes it takes years. In our manual, these forms are collected together - in common speech patterns that you can hear on the street, at work, on the radio. After you listen to them several times and repeat them out loud yourself, you will be able to catch them in real speech and use them, since your ear and your tongue are already trained.
The purpose of this manual is not to give you all the most common verbs - this is not a dictionary, but to clearly present almost all possible verb forms. In this way, you will be able to learn to conjugate any verb, knowing how to conjugate the sample that you will learn with the help of this course.
How to study?
First, listen to the recording, while reading the text in Hebrew, but not out loud. If the meaning is unclear, there is a translation below.
After you have learned a group of verbs, listen to the recording with your eyes closed.
Listen to the recording, pronouncing the written text out loud. Try to pronounce each phrase, trying to imitate the intonation of the announcer.
After you have learned and understood the next group of verbs, you can listen and repeat sentences with them, say, in the car, while shaving, or in the kitchen when you are preparing dinner...
