The Sacred Spring (French Le Sacre du printemps) is a ballet by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, which premiered on May 29, 1913 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysees in Paris. The author of sets, costumes, libretto - Nicholas Roerich, choreographer - Vaclav Nijinsky, impresario - Sergei Diaghilev.

There is no plot as such in the ballet. The composer describes the content of The Sacred Spring as follows: “The radiant Resurrection of nature, which is being reborn to a new life, a complete resurrection, a spontaneous resurrection of the universal conception”.
Dawn. The tribe gathers for the feast of the Sacred Spring. The fun begins, the dancing begins. Games excite everyone. The act of abducting wives is replaced by round dances. Further, youth men's games begin, demonstrating strength and daring. The elders appear, led by the Eldest-Wise One. The ritual of worshiping the earth with a ritual kiss of the earth by the Eldest-Wise One ends with the furious "Dancing of the Earth".
In the dead of night, the girls choose a great sacrifice. One of them, the Chosen One, appearing before God, will become the patron of the tribe. The elders begin a sacred ceremony.
