It is April 3rd and we are commemorating the Habsburg Law, which was passed by the constitutional assembly of Austria 100 years ago today. The Habsburg dynasty had once been one of the most powerful in the world, controlling Austria, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Latin America, and the Holy Roman Empire. By the end of World War I, they only ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire and that state was collapsing.
