Today is January 25th and we are commemorating the League of Nations, which had its earliest beginnings 100 years ago today. An important part of the Paris Peace Conference, going on at the same time, the League began as a commission of five of the victors of World War I, the UK, France, Italy, Japan, and the US, with many other nations, later becoming involved. Its goals were to prevent war through collective security and disarmament, all while settling disputes between nations through negotiation rather than force.
