Indian students pick US, losing interest in UK, Canada, Australia
Recently, Studyportals shared some eye-opening research on LinkedIn about changes in international student interest. The study reveals a growing trend among prospective students to look beyond Australia, Canada, and the UK for their studies. This shift is linked to new immigration policies in these countries, which have made studying there less appealing or feasible.
The research, highlighted in the article "Winners & Losers: An Update on How Domestic Policies in the UK, Canada, and Australia Have Impacted Student Search Behaviour," shows a clear impact of policy changes on student interest. The study found that while there was a rising interest in on-campus bachelor and master programs in Canada and the UK at the start of January 2024, this interest sharply fell by February. The decline was especially pronounced for Canada, with a noticeable drop in student searches in March 2024.
