In the mid-1980s, Leonard Lake and Charles Ng turned a remote property in northern California into their k1lling compound.
They are believed to have t0rtured and sla1n at least 11 and people — men, women, and children — while living out their mutual s3xual fantasy of 3nslaving young women.
Lake, who was a "doomsday prepper,” had built a bunker. Ultimately, though, he put it to different use with Ng as a t3rror chamber, with two rooms set up like prison cells behind a hidden doorway. Lake and Ng targeted, t0rtured, and k1lled various people. They would k1ll men and infants immediately, while the women were used for s3x.
Lake and Ng recorded each other as they t0rtured and k1lled female victims. These video records came back to haunt Ng at his trial, as he initially tried to cast the blame entirely on Leonard. Jurors were shown a tape of a woman begging with the men for mercy as Ng used a kn1fe to cut off her shirt and bra.
It is unknown how many people were k1lled, but it is believed to possibly be as many as 25.
