The inshore waters comeback story continues, and it’s a blast to witness. Never have I seen this many (or any) dolphin so close to shore in the Boston area dancing amongst lobster buoys.
We’ve had humpback & minke whales inside the harbor for weeks now. Those whales have been in good company with 500+ lb bluefin tuna, and we can now add large pods of Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin to the list of megafauna that’s increasingly reclaiming the harbor & nearshore waters as home.
I first thought these were harbor porpoise, then short beaked dolphin, but asked for ID help and you guys pinned it down. Atlantic White-Sided Dolphin (lagenorhynchus acutus).
