-My 43 Birthday Challenge -
What you do and what you don’t, aha
What you will and what you won’t, aha
What you can and what you can’t, aha
This is what you got to know…
DA Da Da, Aha
(Trio, 1982)
IF you were a teenager in the 80’s you probably recognize this great tune…I never listened to the lyrics before, and realized after adding it to my clip that it fit the occasion perfectly...
Every year (since my 40th) I’ve been posting one of my birthday challenges. Some have been more intense than other’s, but what’s important (at least to me) is that I aim at doing something that I haven’t done before, and thus continue to progress along with my age…
I wasn’t sure what my challenge will be until yesterday, but I had a few things in mind that were challenging yet potentially doable . The One Minute OA Svechka (60 sec on one arm) is something that I still would like to try to go after, but I wasn’t ready to approach it, at least not this time. I settled for the “easy" variation” which divides it to 30 seconds on each arm. Balancing in this position (OAHS with feet together) is something I do on a regular basis, but I usually don't stay there for more than 10 sec. Staying in the Svechka for prolonged periods of time is more of a mental challenge, and requires you to remain focused and present in order to maintain the correct position without too much movements (or flagging)…
So here it is. I’m 43, as of now. Challenge done.
I look forward for another interesting year of challenges, practice, workshops, and exploration!
Cheers,
Yuval
