Quinta da Regaleira was built in the early 20th century by Antonia Augusto in a romantic revivalist style. The grounds are surrounded with lush green vegetation, ponds and paths with the amazing Poco Iniciatico (Initiation Well). This inverted tower descends via a spiral staircase to a Knights Templar Cross at the base of the well. From this location there are tunnels which take you on a magical walk to grottos.
