It's KwadsRUs' last race of 2024 and our first time racing at this new good-size venue which is nice with heater woohoo! With only a single "heat-full" of pilots today, I managed to fly 24 packs with a couple heats skipped.
It's also the first time using KwadsRUs' new micro-sized gates. They are great looking. Easy to see and don't get knocked out of place.
Today is also the first time I tried out my new LiFePo4 field-charge power bank, 8S at 30Ah. Even after charging 14 packs (of 3S 550mAh) and topping up Radio (ELRS external module) and ImmersionRC 60fps DVR with screen output, I used only 4.9Ah. When outdoor season comes, practice day can use up more than 20Ah. Will see.
I revived my second Leader3 (L3A) of mine for today's race. L3B has been flying good (light and fast but also not as smooth in the corners as my TTs), but the flimsy stack often acts up so it's good to have another Leader working as a backup. Though today L3A seems to have video output issue so I ended up flying my TT twins the most.
With 5-pilot heats, there were lots of cross-traffic scenes and a few mid-airs, but it's also good to have more opportunities to chase and be chased.
There was no point to do elimination with Mains so we ended up using best-3-out-of-5 to determine winner. Ignacio took the 1st 2 wins and I took the next 3. It helped when he ran out of the 2 new LiperiAir 550 packs I lent him so he had to settle with the slower/older packs. No doubt the new @rcbattery1042 LiperiAir 550 (non-HV) makes a big performance jump. It also helped when I lucked out of mid-air between us. The Mains were exciting to watch.
