This time I made a video on another Exclusive Pioneer LaserActive title. This one is a murder mystery called JB Harold: Manhattan Requiem.

This game is developed by Riverhill Soft and produced by Pioneer in 1993.

The graphics in the game are mainly FMV scenes and interrogation scenes. When compared to the Turbo GrafX CD JB Harold game and the ones on 3DO and Saturn, this one is pretty good. The uncompressed analogue FMV looks superb and the overall quality of the graphics during the interrogations looks great.

The music is pretty good overall, with tunes that set the mood and it is composed very nicely.

The sound effects are kind of minimal. You get sounds during selecting things in the menu but overall that's about it. JB Harold games were never strong in this area.

The control is like any other JB Harold murder mystery/Sherlock Holmes game. You use pointers to choose where to go and what to say when talking to people. Really simple to learn.

Bottom line: I like Riverhill Soft games for the most part and I enjoy murder mysterys, so I did enjoy this game overall. But if solving murders is not your thing I would suggest looking for a different title. But if you like to play the role of a detective, then JB Harold is the game to play.

This disc is in 480i, and features Stereo sound.
