Raised in Berkshire by Mr James Miller in 1848. Used to be widely grown, now rare. Ripe late July to mid August, Crunchy ans sweet with a mild flavour, goes soft within a week of being picked.
Heavy cropper, but makes small aples which alwys need to be thinned in an 'on' year, tendency to crop only one year in two (biennial)
