Since I'm so close upgrading my partial Hand prosthetic device from the AFT to the new AFL version, I need to build new socket interfaces. Using my Creality ferret pro scanner and K1 printer, I scanned my forearm and printed an ABS shell that I used to cast a plaster positive that I could use as a form for vacuum resin lamination.
I scanned my forearm using my rotary mount and ferret pro 3d scanner, from there I used Meshmixer to edit the .obj and extrude the shell 3mm. Next i brought the model into the Creality slicer, scaled it to 98% and printer it on my K1 in ABS scales to 98%, with 3 walls, a raft and 95% infill.
I am super impressed with fit of the printed shell. I am sure that this process could also be used to scan and print cosplay armor that fits really well with very little effort. scan, trim, and print. Its as simple as that.
I laminated my new socket over a plaster form using 2 polyester toddler socks and 4 layers of fiberglass roving. I used a 3.5 : 1 ratio by weight of resin , as well as an 11" wide food sealer bag..... the vacuum bag compressed the lamination down to 2.5 mm thick. I will be adopting and recommending this method as my new standard for fabricating the soft interfaces for my kit partial hand prosthetics.
I'm Happy to say the fingers, from the mounting rails to the distals are in their final revision. once the new winder and gafney are proven out and first articles are received from Pcbway, ill be starting the process of raising funds to build approximately 20 devices to prove out the fabrication process.
once those devices are proven out, ill market the device as a diy kit, where it will be available for purchase. id like to get all of this done this year.
