The difference between engine warning lights and check engine lights is, check engine light is a very specific light, it has a little picture of an engine and it says check, and that light is telling you that there is an emissions problem. Well if the light is on solid, that's not a big deal, so you can make plans and get it taken care of. If that light is flashing, and this is a yellow light, if that light is flashing it means shut it off and get help right now. Now other warning lights typically are going to be red. So the difference here is yellow means caution unless it's flashing, and red means stop.
