Later, Tommy went to Diaz's mansion. Diaz was an unstable person who couldn't control his anger, with a quick-tempered nature at the slightest provocation. Turning to Tommy, he said, "Now you work for me." Tommy replied, "I work for money." Diaz affirmed, "Yes, that's right, you work for me."
Someone had betrayed Diaz, and he asked Tommy to track and find that person's location. They were planning to kill him. Tommy went to the thief's house. While peeking through the window, the thief noticed him and started to run. Tommy followed him and discovered where he lived. On his way back, he noticed a payphone that rang. The person on the other end said, "Thanks for a successful job, Mr. Teal." According to him, the client was very satisfied, and Mr. Teal's new job had been recorded under the phone.
Tommy's next task was to kill Mrs. Dawson, leaving it to look like an accident. Tommy carried out this request. Later, he returned to Diaz's mansion. Diaz was, once again, angry. Everyone in Diaz's team was disappointing him, and he was fed up with the situation. He was concerned that their enemies could now gather the courage to operate in Vice City. The enemies were in a gang living in a fortress-like place. Turning to Tommy, Diaz said, "Quentin will take you there," introducing Tommy to Quentin.
The person close to Diaz, known as Quentin, was actually Lance Vance. Lance believed that Diaz was the one who killed his brother, so he was after Diaz. Tommy told Lance, "Listen to me. Leave Diaz to me; I'll take care of him. He trusts me." Tommy and Lance went to Leaf Links Island, killed all the gang members who were enemies of Diaz, and returned to Diaz's mansion.
Diaz wanted to own the fastest boat on the east coast. So, he asked Tommy to steal that boat. Tommy went to the shipyard, stole the fastest boat, and brought it to Diaz. Diaz, as usual, was busy getting angry about something. Frustrated that his TV wasn't working, he shot at it, rendering it unusable. In fact, the TV wasn't working because it wasn't plugged in, and when he realized it, it was too late. The reason for Diaz wanting the fastest boat became clear. Every month, a freelance seller sailed to Vice City, and the first one to arrive sold their cargo. Diaz wanted Tommy to get there first by taking the fastest boat and securing the cargo.
When Tommy went to the pier to board the boat, he saw Lance Vance was there again. They decided to handle the job together. While Tommy and Lance were chatting, Lance asked, "We know Diaz broke our deal. So why are we still doing his dirty work?" Tommy replied, "The more we know now, the less we'll need to find out when we take over the town." Tommy and Lance obtained the cargo, killed their pursuers, and safely docked at Diaz's mansion.
