Residents begin cleanup after Wednesday's storm
So what's uprooted, cracked and bashed from Wednesday night's storm has to be cleaned up.
For seven years, Billy Weaver has made a living by cutting down and removing trees.
"If there is a tree down we will cut it up and haul it off and dispose of it," he said.
Weaver said because of Wednesday night's storm, he's been flooded with phone calls.
"Yeah we got a lot of phone calls this (Thursday) morning, from trees being damaged or fallen down. debris everywhere.
Weaver was called in to cut this backyard tree down to size, because the limbs were very near intruding on the roof next door.
"Eventually something is going to give," he said. "So that is why we started on that side and started on all that."
Trees seem to be the prime victim of the storm.
Jonathan Stoune said, "I saw the whole tree uprooted and fell on the house."
There will be no hammock hanging in Laura Hammock's tree. The winds exceeding 80 miles-per wind snapped it.
"I've never seen anything like that around here," she said.
The city has set-up several drop off sites for storm debris, specifically tress, tree limbs, branches and brush. Limb by limb and branch by branch many at Clapp Park took advantage of the parking lot dump.
Jeff McKito with the City of Lubbock said, Take it to one of those locations and we will go ahead and take it from you. we will dispose of it properly."
Chris Sims with the Lubbock Power & Light said, "The tree limbs have taken a devastating toll on us."
Tree limbs knocked down many power lines. Since about 11 Wednesday night, LP&L crews were trying to fix the problem. As of late Thursday evening, close to 700 households were still without electricity.
LP&L received reports of more than 19,000 outages.
"We won't go home. We won't quit till everybody's electricity is back on," he said.

Due to overwhelming response, the city asks that only elderly and disabled residents who cannot exit their driveways due to downed trees or branches contact 311 (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.) for assistance clearing limbs.
