The best way to stay on top of a complex project you are managing on Trello is when you are aware of any new additions to your project. But, how will you do it? That’s where Automate.io can help you - it’s a simple tool that can connect your Trello account to Slack, so you get notified immediately when a new card is added. To begin, visit this page, click on our use-case box and click on the Get Started Button.
On the Add Accounts screen, you will add your Trello and Slack accounts to Automate.io. Authorize these apps by clicking on the ‘Add’ button and entering your credentials. We always keep your data secure with bank-level encryption. After successfully authenticating your apps, you will land on the Configure page. On this page, you will configure the specific data that you want to transfer from Trello to Slack.
First let’s focus on Trello, our trigger app - it tells us when you want your automation to start. For this automation to work, you need to fill the right value in the required input field for Trello. This field is - Board - choose the Trello board where a new card is being created. Now coming to Slack, our action app, which tells us what’s the end result you want from your automation. Remember, you can change these actions for different use cases.
For this automation to work, yu need to fill the right value in the required input fields for Slack. These fields are - UserName - enter the slack username of the person you want to notify & Message - write the message that will be sent as a notification. Notice, how this message will give both context of the update and the ability to take action on it. You can also make a message for your requirements by choosing different input fields from Slack.
To proceed to the next stage, click on Done. In this stage, you will test your newly created automation - which we call a BOT. We will now test our bot, by “creating a new card in Trello”. Now, move to the dashboard of Automate.io and click on ‘I’m done’. You can now see, ‘a slack notification’. If you want to try out this automation quickly, click on the link in the description below.
