2023 #ColorReel. I began working independently in 2011. I love the transformation images go through as they’re developed.
I took a photography course back in the final years of the 90’s before digital closed down high school darkrooms forever. Hitting my negative with light and then moving it through the chemical baths to create an image was magic to me. I approach digital color grading the same way. We have all the flexibility in the world, but what does this shot need? What can I do to which aspects to make it reach its full potential? With every project the answer to that question depends on the intentions and vision of the client. It’s all still magic though. The technology may change, but we’re making images where there was nothing before.
