Sonic Advance 2 - Egg-Go-Round (Sonic) in 0:07:87
Time attack of Egg-Go-Round, the boss of Techno Base, in Sonic Advance 2, with Sonic, in 0:07:87
Very random boss, and not because of the platforms - thankfully the RNG is reset every attempt in time attack mode, so holding right for the first ~2ish seconds guarantees an ideal platform pattern. No, this boss is very random because the bounces and trajectory are so janky that they're basically random - note the lack of the use of "RNG" to describe this because the RNG has nothing to do with this randomness!
The strat I was trying to go for is the following:
1. Instashield the 1st hit
2. Jump on the body and pray I get a lucky 3 bounce for hits 2-4
3. Slide attack off the platform, pray Sonic balls as he falls (because that's basically random!)
4. Pray I get a lucky 4 bounce for hits 5-8. Mash the attack button in case Sonic happens to land on a platform.
This was NOT what happened, and instead, this was a completely scuffed attempt that got ridiculously janky hitboxes with a slide attack hitting twice, and then I got no lucky bounces at all - but mashing the slide attack ended up getting a fast fight anyways because this boss is completely random (and not RNG)
So uh yeah. Not a deserved WR but anyone who has speedran this boss understands how dumb and random this is, and we take those. And you know, it's nice for the WR to actually have video documentation now instead of someone privating their videos after they were public.
