Time attack of the Green Emerald 4 Race against Johnny in Sonic Rush Adventure in 0:57:96
This race really intimidated me at first, but it turns out that keeping it simple is fast - move as little as possible! Still was very difficult but I'm pleased with this new record!
0:16 - I need 32 rings plus the one jump tamp to hit max boost. I barely have enough space to hit max boost then GTFO from the next jump ramp, because jump ramps are slow.
0:20 - This rock can eat my ass
0:30 - You're intended to boost through this curving lane of mines and avoid the hitlag, but because turning is slow, it ends up being faster (and MUCH EASIER) to just hug the edges while boosting!
0:35 - This rock can eat my ass
0:45 - Just plowing through everything seems slow but again, lateral movement also loses time
General Wave Cyclone Speed Tips:
Hold the stylus on the screen at/slightly after 1 to get a boost start.
Rings help get to and maintain boost state. Avoid enemies / obstacles when possible.
Avoid jump ramps as they lose significant time - though occasionally they're necessary to fill the boost meter.
Move in a straight line as much as possible, especially while boosting, because moving to the side loses speed - this means use the stylus as little as possible while boosting. It also means it's sometimes not worth moving to get rings and/or avoid obstacles, because the timeloss from that doesn't justify the timeloss from losing speed.
When you must move, moving rapidly seems to lose more speed than moving slowly - this is especially apparent when UNboosted. Of course, you don't want to move TOO slowly which eats into the amount of time you move in a straight line.
