Nitrogen use efficiency in vineyards
This webinar will focus on supplying grapevine nitrogen needs while trying to minimise the loss of nitrous oxides (potent greenhouse gases) to the atmosphere. Estimates of the amounts of nitrogen in vines over a production cycle and the amounts removed will be presented. Changes in the amounts of nitrogen in various components (i.e. leaves, fruit and perennial parts) will be related to timing of supply. Strategies to avoid unintentional losses of nitrogen fertiliser as greenhouse gases will be highlighted and yardsticks to assess performance discussed.
