"The weakest dog barks the loudest."
Here is my seventh character guide, Kuja, a character that only deals with three spells in different variations, flare, holy and ultima. Most of his BRV attacks are basically moves which go from one spell to another and he is the only character in the game that uses NO physical attacks whatsoever (even in Rush mode).
Basic crackdown of Kuja:
His speed is really good on ground and in the air, and the Glide ability (the only character that can Glide outside of EXMode) can come in very handy for a smooth dodge.
His EXBurst attack is so strong! It makes up for the last few character guides I've done that were horrible, but his is like, just amazing.
When in EXMode he has an ability called auto magic that drops flare balls in the air when he jumps and a holy shield around him when in the air at all times along with a blast that happens when you land. This can be handy for just toying with the opponent and getting them to stagger or in a vulnerable position to attack them.
The Glide ability is really bad for turning and control in general which could, alternatively, leave you vulnerable for an attack.
He spends a little time before casting most spells that give him way to much vulnerability time again, so that if you're wanting to do a close combat holy spell, the opponent can wait a few seconds to think about blocking/dodging/countering.
His EXBurst command isn't really hard but you HAVE to start by mashing the circle button quick, unlike most the other character's where you can fill the gage however quick you want and still fill it up in time, Kuja has set limits for each button mash, first is really quick, second is slower, then slower etc. so if you're not paying attention or whatever, you miss out on a brilliant EXBurst attack.
In-depth analysis:
As stated before, Kuja deals only magic attacks so we all know, if any, what abilities we want on our equipment/accessories. Magic boosts all the way, I haven't currently because I barely used to use Kuja in all honesty. You can make Kuja into quite a strengthy character with plenty of boosts though which is fantastic.
With Kuja's BRV and HP attacks, he has the same amount for air and ground, for example, he has 3 HP attacks that can be used on the ground OR in the air which is quite a good thing. Nothing to scream about though, but it's there. His HP attacks are really good, too, Ultima is fantastic for staggering opponents/opponents in small spaces and long distance, Flare Star is a flare attack that is brilliant for close distance, just quite hard to initiate it in the right place sometimes, and Sepharic Star is a Holy attack (based on what holy was like in the game) that is good for mid-range attacks on enemies in the middle of an attack or something. All three of these HP moves make Kuja a very formidable character, however, as I've said, the times in which he takes to cast a spell can sometimes be fatal so really be careful of that and you don't learn Ultima until late on so that's quite bad.
His BRV attacks can be really handy and they'll all relatively different from eachother. Remot Flare is an attack you saw me do on Zidane which targets him and places flare balls around him which explode after a while and for some reason, it can hit the opponent quite alot without them dodging/blocking. Another example of a good BRV attack for Kuja is Strike Energy which throws orbs at the opponent and, if the opponent is attacked by the orbs close distance, he'll float upwards attacking with more orbs around him. Alternatively, if the opponent was hit further away, Kuja summons flare balls around the opponent three times, which they can't dodge, that throws the enemy away.
Kuja can equip: Robes, Clothing, Ribbons, Hairpins, Hats, Daggers, Staves, Bangles and Rods
Overall, Kuja is a fantastic character for people good for magic users and, I bet for the people who prefer physical he's not bad, too. I like him, he's just not a favourite of mine really, but a great character nonetheless.
