The case of Mr. Oft Proves You have NO Free Will
The case of Mr. Oft covers the criminal psychology behind why Mr. "Oft" committed the acts he did and why he was deemed to be compelled by forces beyond his control. This groundbreaking case was used by the psychology community as a case proving determinism but not proving if it was fatalism or compatibilism.
I wanted to take a new spin on the true crime genre rather than just directly diving into interrogation footage channels such as Red Tree Stories, Red Tree Crime, Stranger Stories, STAYAWAKE, and Explore With Us focus on and instead shift the discussion to the science and moral implications of the case as the idea of a tumor taking control of a mans actions is terrifying due to its ability to theoretically happen to anyone. Neuroscience is neglected in true crime stories despite it being crucial to understanding criminal psychology. While it is important to know your rights and interesting to watch police interrogation footage there is something fascinating with studying the criminal mind as most of us would not willingly do acts that would ruin our lives. The idea of a tumor causing a man to ruin his life is unsettling to say the least.
The Terrifying case of Mr. "Oft" is a JCS inspired video from JCS Criminal Psychology's video entitled, "What pretending to be crazy looks like, Son Spends $275,000 of Dad's Money on Virtual Girlfriend,, Yeardley's ex-Boyfriend, the Wrath of Jodi, Jennifer's Solution, There's Something About Casey, The Legend of Jeff, The Bizarre case of stephen McDaniel, The case of Jon Koppenhaver, The Case of Michael Dunn, The Case of Lee A Rodarte, Th Case of Michael Rafferty, The Case of Michael Drejka, The Interrogation of Col. Russell Williams, and the Case of Chris Watts." but instead of focusing on body language and police interrogations focuses more on the philosophy of determinism and the neuroscience behind his actions. The terrifying case of Mr. oft attempts to answer the question if we have free will by using the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, Gottfried Leibniz, and Immanuel Kant. We also explore the neuroscience behind his actions and why the Libet test and Libet experiment may prove a deterministic world or at least a compatibilist one. The SRP-III is part of the dark triad of personality tests and was briefly referenced during the adult onset sociopathy section but is not a core component to the terrifying case of Mr. "Oft".
