⚡️Early gait retraining⚡
Walking in an Aircast/Vacoped boot is quite different from a regular walking pattern. The boot is great because it protects the structures that need it (fractured bone, torn ligament, or in my case a ruptured Achilles). However, when you are finally cleared by your surgeon/physiotherapist to leave the boot behind, walking can be quite a challenge! Sure, you can hobble around and call it "walking" but your physio will most likely raise an eyebrow seeing it 🤨
Tips:
⚠️ DO NOT RUSH
👟 Shoes with a small heel lift (mine has a 10mm heel-toe drop) take some pressure off the Achille for the first few months after weaning out of a boot.
