In this video, we are going to show you 1st degree heart block which is also known as first degree AV block or atrioventricular block.

1st degree heart block or first degree heart block is relatively a benign condition. However, the 1st degree AV block can easily be missed. A heart block, particularly AV block or atrioventricular block means that all atrial impulses can pass to the ventricle with some interruption in the conduction system. Most commonly, the block is at the level of AV node. But it can happen at other levels too. For example, atrial level, bindle of His level or even in bundle branches as well. The 1st degree heart block ecg is a bread and butter for emergency medicine doctors. Many clinicians find it challenging to differentiate 1st degree heart block vs 2nd degree. We will show you a few 1st degree heart block rhythm strip, ecg, ekg, av block, av node, first degree avb etc. Please attempt to read ECG in a systematic way. Otherwise the first degree av block may be missed in the ekgs. Please read the electrocardiograms comprehensively. There is a different video on how to read ekgs.
