The mod here attempts to replace the palettes of the main zones with Master System styled ones.
The colours are based on the original SMS version as well as the unofficial Remake. Essentially a mix between the two (but mostly taken from the remake) as otherwise it wouldn't be possible with such a limited colour palette. Sometimes I use my own variants to fit better so it's not 100% accurate to the source material.
For Marble, Spring Yard & Star Light which weren't in the original game I used the palettes made by Hidrogeniuns and Creative Araya for the Sonic 1 SMS Remake. The palette for Scrap Brain Act 3 is an original idea, having colours based on the Game Gear palette of Aqua Lake Act 2 as well as Labyrinth's water palette with some inspiration from Chacanger's S1SMS hack which adds Labyrinth Act 4 to the game.

Version 5.0 update includes:
• Adjustment ~ Lightened the darkest green in Green Hill.
• Improvement ~ Replaced chunks in Marble & Labyrinth to match the new ones in S1F v1.5.
• Overhaul ~ Overhauled the water palette in Scrap Brain Act 3.
• Addition I ~ Added new water palettes for playable characters.
• Addition II ~ Added new Special Stage palette & replaced the background.
