It follows Shadow the Hedgehog as the second Sonic the Hedgehog game to feature Shadow the Hedgehog as the protagonist, and its plot, which runs parallel to the events of Sonic Generations (2011), sees Shadow travel through levels from previous Sonic games as he faces his archenemy Black Doom.
Shadow Generations itself is not available as a standalone game, instead being bundled with a remaster of Sonic Generations in Sonic X Shadow Generations.
