About Seli Maurício:
Visual artist and puppeteer, born in Morro Redondo, she has lived in Pelotas for over fifty years. One of her greatest and most recognized works is the Via Sacra at Igreja da Luz, made in 1977, using the wood carving technique. She is a pioneer in professional puppet theater in Pelotas. Founder of the Trio Pilha group of puppet theater, the first to participate in the Canela International Festival of Puppet Theater. In 1991, she created the Praça da Paz space, which features the artist's landscaping work on Laranjal beach and recently gave birth to a new series of drawings, with the theme Women Warriors/Lights from Africa. She works between the erudite and the popular and between the sacred and the profane. She is often misunderstood wherever she goes.
