In today's video, we took a day trip by train from Nice to Monaco, exploring the main tourist and historical attractions of this fascinating principality. Follow our complete itinerary and discover the rich history behind each place we visited:
🚆 Train from Nice to Monaco
We began our journey by purchasing tickets at Nice station and boarding the beautiful coastal line to Monaco. The journey, lasting about 25 minutes, is an attraction in itself, offering incredible views of the French Riviera.
The Gare de Monaco-Monte-Carlo station is underground, modern, and strategically positioned for easy access to the principality's main attractions.
⛵ Port of Monaco (Port Hercule)
An ancient natural harbor used since Roman times, Port Hercule is now home to million-dollar yachts and luxury events such as the Monaco Yacht Show and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. It's the nautical heart of Monegasque luxury.
Walking along the port promenade is like stepping into a movie set—luxury boats, mountains in the background, and refined architecture.
🏁 Louis II Tunnel – Formula 1
We pass through the iconic Circuit de Monaco tunnel, where Formula 1 cars battle light and shadow at over 280 km/h. A historic stretch of the world's most glamorous Grand Prix.
The tunnel was built beneath the Stade Louis II and combines urban functionality with sporting tradition.
🏎️ Fairmont Hairpin
The most famous corner in Formula 1! The Fairmont Hairpin demands pinpoint precision from drivers and is one of the most recognizable images of the Monaco street circuit.
The curve is located in front of the Fairmont Hotel, offering a privileged view of the route.
🎲 Monte Carlo Casino
The ultimate symbol of Monegasque elegance, the casino was founded in 1863 and designed by Charles Garnier. Only foreigners are allowed to gamble—Monegasques are prohibited by law.
We visit inside and show you the luxurious rooms, sets from James Bond films, and places where high society circulates.
🎖️ Changing of the Guard at the Prince's Palace
We attend the daily changing of the guard ceremony, a tradition maintained since 1817. It takes place at exactly 11:55 a.m. in front of the palace, the official seat of the Grimaldi family.
It's an opportunity to experience royal history up close and appreciate the palace's architecture.
💒 Monaco Cathedral – Grace Kelly's Wedding
We visit the beautiful cathedral where American actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III. She is also buried there, next to her husband.
The Roman-Byzantine-style temple was built in 1875 and is a symbol of the link between Hollywood glamour and European royalty.
🐠 Oceanographic Museum of Monaco
Founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I, the Oceanographic Museum combines science, conservation, and beauty. Jacques Cousteau was once its director!
In addition to the incredible aquariums, the museum tells the story of the maritime explorations that put Monaco on the scientific map.
🏖️ Larvotto Beach
We ended with a rest at the famous public beach of Larvotto, recently renovated with an environmental focus and free access. Its clear waters and tranquil atmosphere contrast with the surrounding luxury.
It's the ideal place to relax before returning to the train.
🚉 Return to Nice
We caught the train back in the late afternoon, ending an unforgettable day! Easy, quick, and with breathtaking coastal views.
