[Free Excel Tutorial] CREATE A CALCULATED FIELD In EXCEL 2007 - Full HD
In a pivot table, you can create a new field that performs a calculation on the sum of other pivot fields. For example, in the screen shot below, a calculated field, named Bonus, has been created, and it will calculate 3% of the Total, if the sum of Units is greater than 100.
The sales reps will earn a 3 percent bonus if they have sold more than 100 units of any product. To show the bonuses, you can add a calculated field to the pivot table. In this example, the formula will test the Units field, to see if more than 100 units were sold, and multiply the Total field by 3%.
In a Microsoft Office Excel table, you can quickly create a calculated column. A calculated column uses a single formula that adjusts for each row. It automatically expands to include additional rows so that the formula is immediately extended to those rows. You need to enter a formula only once. You don't need to use the Fill or Copycommand.
In PivotTable reports, you can use summary functions in value fields to combine values from the underlying source data. If summary functions and custom calculations do not provide the results that you want, you can create your own formulas in calculated fields and calculated items. For example, you could add a calculated item with the formula for the sales commission, which could be different for each region. The PivotTable report would then automatically include the commission in the subtotals and grand totals.
