Another viewer asks for my help in identifying invoices that are past due. She wants to use the =NOW() function as a reference point in the formula, so that the list is always current. In addition to using the =IF() Function to identify the invoices that are “Past Due,” I also demonstrate two other functions: =COUNTIF() to total the number of “Past Due” invoices and =SUMIF() to give me the total dollar amount that is “Past Due.” I recreate these formulas, this time, using “named cell ranges” in the formulas.

Using COUNTIF() to replace pivot tables: We all know that you can use countif() to replace pivot tables for simple data summarization. For eg. if you have customer data in a table and you would like to know how many customers you have in each city you can use countif() to find that.
