When was the last time you spent the day exploring out in nature, breathing in the fresh air, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face? How often do you let your imagination run and allow it to lead you on an adventure? Do you encourage your children to do the same?
When your parents encourage you to respect the earth, go outside, explore and find new adventures, this is what happens!
I frequently drive past this patch of land that has seemingly random headstones on it. I have even seen someone mowing and taking care of the area, which peaked my curiosity even more. I’ve always wanted to stop and find out the story behind this area, I mean, there is no church or any other structure on the little piece of property so.....Who are they? Why are they here? How old is this cemetery? These are questions that flood my mind, every time I drive past this area in the middle of nowhere.
Well apparently, my mom has had these same questions, so with my mom in town, we decided to finally go check it out. The problem is after exploring the area, it left us with so many more questions. We came back to the house and decided to do a little more research.
This is what we found out........ Apparently, this little area used to house the Antioch Baptist Church, which was organized in 1898, on Tchulahoma rd in Memphis, TN, by Reverend Frank Barr. In 1964, the church was destroyed by a fire. Hence the reason there is nothing there. They now worship on Faulkner.
So again I ask......... When was the last time you spent the day exploring out in nature, breathing in the fresh air, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face? How often do you let your imagination run and allow it to lead you on an adventure? Do you encourage your children to do the same?
