Walking with Our House on Wheels 🚶♂️🚶♀️ Through the Sahara Desert 🏜
We start the day with a traditional Berber breakfast ❤️, a moment of warmth and hospitality that stays with us. After being dropped off at the gas station, we say our heartfelt goodbyes, grateful for the unforgettable cultural experience we’ve shared. Just as we are about to continue our journey, the staff invite us to join them for a meal, an unexpected gesture of kindness.
From there, we finally begin walking again 🚶🏽♂️🚶♀️. Even though it had been less than 12 hours, we were very excited to head toward the Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi with the Portal on Wheels, searching for a place to spend the night. The vast desert opens up before us, breathtaking and humbling. Living off‑grid means learning from this environment, becoming one with it, facing strong winds, the intense sun, and dry lips. As we move deeper into the dunes, we realize this is the moment we’ve been working toward: connection, nature, and the peaceful feeling of the desert.
