1 Broccoli Crown
1 Carrot
1 Stem Green Onion/Scallion
2 Tbsp. Minced Ginger
2 Tbsp. Minced Garlic
Cooking Oil for Pan
Beef Marinade Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. Hoisin or Oyster Sauce
1 Tbsp. Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp. Cooking Wine
2 Tbsp. Water
1 Tbsp. Cornstarch
1 Tsp. Baking Soda (This is the key ingredient for soft meat every time)
1 Tsp. Sugar
1/2 Tsp. Pepper
Stir Fry Sauce Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. Hoisin or Oyster Sauce
1 Tbsp. Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp. Cooking Wine
1 Tbsp. Water
1 Tsp. Cornstarch
1 Tsp. Sugar
1/2 Tsp. Pepper
2 Tbsp. Sesame Oil
Instructions:
1. PREPARE the BEEF. Cut the beef against the grain into the thickness shown in the video. Place beef strips in a bowl of cold water, move the beef around in the water with your hand a bit & let sit to release extra blood while preparing the marinade.
2. MARINADE the BEEF. In a bowl, mix the beef marinade ingredients & stir until a smooth texture is reached. Grab handfuls of beef from the bowl of water and squeeze out the excess water before placing in the marinade bowl. Massage marinade mixture into beef & set aside.
3. PREPARE STIR FRY SAUCE. Mix the stir fry sauce in a bowl and set aside.
4. CUT the VEGETABLES. Cut the carrots, green onion & broccoli as shown in the video.
5. BOIL the BROCCOLI. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add 1 tsp. of salt, a small drizzle of cooking oil & cut broccoli pieces to the water. Boil for 5-6 minutes.
6. FRY the BEEF. Cover the bottom of a frying pan with cooking oil & turn heat to medium-high. Cook beef on each side for 2 minutes & place on a plate.
7. STIR FRY the VEGETABLES. Add a drizzle of oil to the same pan and fry the ginger, garlic, green onion & carrot for 1-2 minutes.
8. LAST STEP. Next, add the boiled broccoli, cooked beef, sesame oil, stir fry sauce & toss until well combined. Remove from heat.
This East Asian style dish is best served over some steaming hot white rice. The taste of the stir fry & the softness of the beef will blow your mind!
Enjoy! 😊
