Kansas City Southern de Mexico "Grey Ghost" AC44 leads intermodal train on the CPKC Davenport Sub
I haven't been home long, but there definitely is a new railroad in town. CPKC's new Mexico-Midwest Express is providing seamless intermodal and freight service between Mexico City and Chicago. This train on 5/22 was lead by a rare KCSM "Grey Ghost" AC44. There are only around 20 of these locomotives left, so they are very rare on a railroad as big as what CPKC now is. I have seen several of these locomotives before, but never leading. With nothing better to do, I chased this train from Davenport all the way to Clinton. Along the way, I saw a pair of UP trains meeting at the 5th street crossover. After driving back to Davenport, I ended the day by catching a friend of mine as the conductor on the Nahant to Bensenville manifest. It's gonna take a while before seeing stack trains on the line that I have grown up watching feels normal.
