Testing in production using Azure Deployment Slots
▸In this video we go over the usage of Azure Deployment Slots that enable us to test our latest application changes in production without impacting end-users in a production environment.
We start the video by going into the Azure Management portal and ensuring that we have the proper App Service Plan that supports Deployment Slots feature.
Once the plan is setup, we show you how to switch your existing application over to using the newly created App Service Plan and begin the process of creating a new deployment slot.
Once the deployment slot is created and we enable the deployment options to use the local git repository, we go ahead and adjust our web site to contain a change that we want to deploy and then go through the deployment process to the new deployment slot.
The last part of the video covers the simple act of using the "Swap" feature on our web application in order to have our validated changes become the production version for our end users with very little involvement from our side besides slicking a single button.
