The Baltimore and Washington, DC That Tourists Rarely See Episode 35 The Big Chair
A visit to the Big Chair, a very large chair-shaped sculpture in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, DC that was originally erected to promote the Curtis Brothers Furniture Store. The furniture store has since gone out of business but the Big Chair remains as something that the locals frequently use as a landmark when giving directions or as a place to meet. Here's a fun fact: A woman once lived on the Big Chair for six weeks.
