Fatal car accident: It was my fault! | How do we deal with guilt? Episode 1
Guilty of two people's deaths:
In this episode, Frank meets Tatjana. At 18, she caused a car accident that killed a trike rider and his companion. How does she deal with this guilt and how does she live with it?
It's now five years since the fatal #caraccident. When Tatjana thinks back, she remembers a completely normal day: Great weather, and Tatjana was spending a few pleasant hours with friends at a swimming lake – until the fatal accident occurred on the way home.
Tatjana shows Frank the spot on the country road where it happened. She was alone in her car at the time and ended up in the gravel bed. While trying to counter-steer, she drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a trike. From then on, everything went black.
It wasn't until much later, long after she was in the hospital, that she learned that the trike rider and his girlfriend didn't survive the accident. Her thought: She would have preferred it if she had died and not the others – because she was responsible for the accident.
While still in the hospital, Tatjana wrote a letter to her family, and shortly thereafter, the deceased man's son contacted her.

My team and I are interested in questions that directly relate to our lives, but also in topics that are important to all of us and are often only discussed superficially.
We search for answers to these questions, week after week – openly, honestly, and independently. We don't meet experts for this, but rather we are there: at the slaughterhouse, at the swinger party, while proselytizing in the pedestrian zone.
And because we want to gain insight into as many perspectives as possible in our search, a question always occupies us for several weeks. Ultimately, we want to provide an answer, even if it's not easy for us.
With each video – but especially in the discussions with you – we get a little closer to answering the big, tricky questions.
