Electronic Funds Transfers are emerging as an extremely important payment system. Typically, the parties are the bank's customer, the bank, the beneficiary of the payment order and the beneficiary's bank. Security procedures provide the essence of the electronic funds transfer as the verification device for establishing that a particular payment order is that of the customer. The advantages to payment via documentary transactions are discussed as well.
