The First Snow
Short little vignette of the first snowfall since I came down here to the good ol' RVA. Snowflakes started to come down and, naturally, my first instinct was to pull out a camera and begin filming. Perks of being in a film school: I wasn't the only one to come out and shoot. Having people who are down to go out in the freezing cold on a whim's notice and take artsy slow motion videos of snow is, admittedly, very nice.
This was filmed on the Canon T3i, a beautiful little camera which I will be parting with soon in choice of the Canon C100, and this could potentially be the last video with that camera as my main. I will still hold onto it, though, for photography work and possibly the slow motion capability (because damn you Canon and your stingy video features), but a proper video overview of the C100 will be coming within the next month or two.
Also, big thicc kudos to Joe, Jonathan, and Eoin for coming out in the snow with me.
The music was improvised by me in Logic Pro. I created a really interesting sounding piano patch in which there is absolutely zero release on the notes and the cutoff is turned down quite far, giving the impression of a modified damper pedal. I thought the sounds possible with it were extremely cool to give an intimate, jazzy, glitchy vibe, and so improvised a cold sounding tune on top of this video. Will hopefully being using it on some future music.
